Self check-in

Hotel self check-in software on the guest's phone, with no app

Guests check themselves in from a link, in about two minutes, and the front desk sees everything they did. A lobby tablet does the same for walk-ins. Both are included in LodgingOs.

What hotel self check-in is

Hotel self check-in lets a guest do the front-desk part of arriving on their own: confirm the booking, show ID, pay, accept the house rules and get a room. Done well, it removes the queue at the desk for guests who want to go straight to their room, and it lets a small property take late arrivals without someone waiting up.

LodgingOs runs it in the phone's browser, so there is nothing to download, and every step lands on the guest's folio and registration exactly as if the desk had done it.

The six screens

  • Find the booking by confirmation code, phone number or name.
  • Check the stay: dates, guests and the balance, before anything is charged.
  • Photo of their ID, then a selfie.
  • Pay the balance by card, into your own Stripe account. The card stays on file for incidentals.
  • Accept your house rules and sign with a finger.
  • Room number, check-out time and your phone number. Smart-lock rooms get a door code; otherwise the key waits at the desk.

How guests get the link

The check-in link is in the booking confirmation by email, and by text when your hotel's texting is set up. Guests who booked more than two days ahead get it again by email on the morning they arrive. The desk can also email the link or copy it to send another way.

Early arrivals, on your terms

You decide how early guests can check themselves in, or turn early self check-in off. Arriving before check-in time can carry an hourly early check-in fee, $15 an hour up to $70 to start, with the first 30 minutes free, and the guest sees it before paying. Early self check-in only applies on the day of arrival.

Door codes for smart-lock rooms

With TTLock smart locks connected, each guest gets a door code at check-in that works for their stay and is cancelled at checkout. Without smart locks, the screen tells the guest where to collect the key.

Walk-ins on the lobby kiosk

A tablet in the lobby, paired to your property, checks in guests who arrive without a booking. It asks one thing per screen: name and contact, nights and party size, then ID and a selfie when you turn ID checks on. The guest picks a room, pays by card or on a Stripe reader, and signs the registration card. Stays flagged for a closer look go to the desk for review.

Guest data handled properly

Card numbers never touch LodgingOs; Stripe holds them. Selfies are deleted 30 days after checkout and ID images 90 days after checkout, automatically. The verification result is kept as the hotel's record that the check was done.

Part of the same system

Self check-in reads the same reservation, folio and room status as the front desk, so a guest who checks in on their phone appears in-house on the desk at once, with the payment, the signature and the ID check attached.

Included

Self check-in and the walk-in kiosk are included in LodgingOs. $199 a month per property, flat. No setup fee, no contract, first month free.

Questions

Do guests need to download an app?

No. Check-in runs in the phone's browser from a link.

What if a stay needs a person?

Stays that need a look are sent to the front desk instead, and the desk can take over any check-in at any point.

Which door locks work?

TTLock smart locks give the guest a door code at check-in, cancelled at checkout.

What hardware does the kiosk need?

A tablet in the lobby, paired to your property. A Stripe card reader is optional; guests can also pay by card on the screen.

How long are ID photos kept?

Selfies for 30 days and ID images for 90 days after checkout, then they are deleted automatically.
